ATLANTIC VIEW
Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina
The pier, built in the 1930s by Julian Morton, who named it the Atlantic View Pier. The same family who owned Grandfather Mountain. In 1939 the family sold the pier to Johnny Mercer, who renamed it after himself. Over the years, Johnny Mercer Pier has withstood several major hurricanes to include Hazel in 1954. However, it was Fran and Bertha in 1996, that did the wooden pier in. Now it stands rebuilt— the first concrete pier in North Carolina. It stretches 1200 feet out over the Atlantic Ocean and can withstand winds up to 200mph.
This is a TWO image bundle. (1) color image file and (1) monochrome (B+W) image file.
